NIPCM Audit
Are you IPC compliant?
Service Description
The National Infection Prevention and Control Manual (NIPCM) isn’t just a clinical standard — it’s the backbone of safe care delivery in Scotland. A dedicated NIPCM compliance audit gives your service the assurance, evidence, and operational clarity needed to meet regulatory expectations and keep people safe. This audit isn’t a tick‑box exercise. It’s a structured, supportive, and operationally meaningful review that: Identifies gaps before inspectors do Strengthens your infection prevention culture Provides clear, actionable improvements Gives you defensible evidence for scrutiny from the Care Inspectorate, NHS partners, and commissioners What the Audit Covers 1. Standard Infection Control Precautions (SICPs) A deep dive into the areas inspectors always probe: Hand hygiene practice and facilities PPE selection, use, and disposal Safe management of care equipment Environmental cleanliness and decontamination Linen and waste management Occupational safety, including sharps and exposure incidents 2. Transmission-Based Precautions (TBPs) Ensuring your service can respond safely and confidently to: Outbreaks Isolation requirements Enhanced cleaning protocols Communication pathways with NHS Health Protection Teams 3. Governance, Training, and Evidence We assess: Policies and SOPs against NIPCM standards Staff knowledge and confidence Audit tools and monitoring systems Leadership oversight and escalation processes What You Receive A Clear, Operationally Useful Report No jargon. No vague statements. You get: A RAG‑rated summary for instant visibility Room‑by‑room and process‑by‑process findings Photographic evidence (if requested) A prioritised action plan that your staff can actually use Suggested scripts and prompts for staff to use during inspection conversations Immediate Wins for Your Service Stronger inspection readiness Reduced risk of enforcement action Improved staff confidence and consistency Assurance for families, boards, and commissioners A safer environment for people experiencing care Why This Audit Stands Out Because it’s written for the Scottish regulated care sector, not adapted from a hospital model. It blends: Regulatory alignment Operational practicality Staff‑friendly language Clear evidence trails A coaching approach rather than a punitive one It’s an audit that doesn’t just tell you what’s wrong — it shows you how to fix it, embeds the “why,” and strengthens your whole governance system.
