Dementia Training in person, Promoting Excellence Framework
Service Description
Raising the standard of dementia care, together. The Promoting Excellence Framework is Scotland’s national approach to dementia care. It sets out clear knowledge and skills for everyone working with people living with dementia — from frontline carers to senior leaders — ensuring care is not only safe and compliant, but compassionate, inclusive, and rights-based. Why It Matters Consistency of care: Every staff member, at every level, knows what good dementia care looks like. Confidence for providers: Services can evidence inspection readiness and meet national standards with clarity. Better outcomes: People living with dementia, their families, and communities experience care that respects dignity, autonomy, and individuality. Workforce empowerment: Staff gain practical tools, mapped learning, and confidence to deliver excellence every day. What It Offers A clear framework of knowledge and skills, tailored to different roles. Mapped training resources that align with inspection and regulatory expectations. Rights-based practice guidance, embedding equality, inclusion, and person-centred care. A pathway for continuous improvement, supporting services to move from “good” to “excellent.” The Impact The framework isn’t just about compliance — it’s about culture. It helps organisations build services where people with dementia feel valued, staff feel supported, and families feel reassured. It’s a tool for transformation, giving providers the confidence to deliver care that stands out for all the right reasons.
